“Acid Communism” was coined by radical theorist Mark Fisher, who, before his untimely death, was working on a book of that name. This workshop joins in with the ongoing exploration of what “Acid Communism”—a reference to the counter-politics and counterculture of the 1960s and 1970s—could mean today, by using the techniques of consciousness raising and consciousness expansion. These are techniques that the group Plan C, of which Fisher was a member, has been experimenting with, in order to unearth desires which are produced within contemporary society and the fulfillment of which points beyond the capitalist world. Applying these techniques is part of Plan C’s attempt to develop an antagonistic anti-capitalist politics that is also based on a politics of care, an unconditional care without borders or boundaries. As part of the workshop, participants will engage in small and large group discussions.
